Accountability: Accountable to the Building Principal Competencies & Qualifications: 1. Experience teaching at the elementary and secondary level. 2. Possessing a Washington State Teaching C ertificate with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations . 3. Highly qualified teacher in accordance with Federal statute. 4. Proven ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds. 5. Ability to create a positive climate where students achieve their personal best on a daily basis. 6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with parents, students, and other staff. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Organize instructional programs within the prescribed curriculum to provide for individual differences. 2. Be able to effectively teach students of varying abilities. 3. Be able to maintain classroom discipline and use effective classroom management skills. 4. Utilize and maintain district/building curricular and student learning objectives. 5. Prepare and maintain long -range and weekly lesson plans. 6. Maintain appropriate student records. 7. Communicate and interpret school programs to patrons. 8. Communicate student progress to parents. 9. Work as an effective member of the grade level, staff, and community to evaluate and improve student learning. 10. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the building administration. Conditions/Terms of Employment: • This is a temporary 1 -year position (.89 FTE) at the Schoonover Community located near Odessa, Washington. • The salary will be commensurate with the District's Salary Schedule . • This position is eligible for State retirement, medical, dental and vision.
