The Science Coach (PT) works closely with the Dean of Instructional Support, the Division Chair - Sciences, as well as Academic Support Center staff. The Coach assists during Science courses and within LMS course pages and assists students by appointment. Applicants must be proficient in Sciences andragogy, be able to work synchronously and asynchronously, and work in-person and virtually as needed.

The is a part-time position; no more that 28 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Meeting with students to help them complete course-related work.

B. Maintain documentation on the courses and times tutored and submit records to the Dean of Instructional Support.

C. Performing other job specific duties as assigned Dean of Instructional Support and the Division Chair - Sciences.

D. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and write as applicable to subject area.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries and/or complaints from students, internal staff, or members of the college community.
• Ability to effectively present information to students, internal staff, or members of the college community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to apply mathematical operations required to tabulate student scores.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of information.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College and to the philosophy of the community college system.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent knowledge of the mathematics.
• Experience supporting students with academic and learning support or other related experience. • Interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills
• Punctuality and dependability
• Accurate record-keeping skills
• Able to travel to college campuses and centers
• Willing to work in a virtual environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Record of working with and supporting college-level students in-person and virtually.
• Experience working with an academic support center.
• Understanding of mathematics support in a college-level environment.
