Dakota State University is seeking an enthusiastic individual to embark on their career journey as our Science Lab Manager. This 9-month position is responsible for managing the science labs and preparing lab materials for biology, chemistry, physics, and/or geography labs.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lab materials for biology, chemistry, physics, and/or geography labs.
  • Administer, train, and supervise student lab assistants.
  • Prepare instructional materials and assist with grading and student support.
  • Oversee the acquisition and stocking of teaching-related chemicals, lab supplies, equipment, and manuals.
  • Facilitate lab safety and organize laboratory waste disposals.
  • Supervise use and routine maintenance of teaching-related equipment and facilities.
  • Teach science lab sections as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in natural or physical science or science-related field.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 10lbs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in natural or physical science or science-related field.
  • Experience supervising student employees, teaching assistant, or interns
  • Experience coordinating educational or outreach activities
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience in a lab setting.
