Position Overview
Alba Public School is seeking a motivated and student-centered Secondary Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engaging and rigorous science instruction to middle and/or high school students while fostering a positive learning environment that supports academic growth, curiosity, and critical thinking.
Preferred Certification Areas
Candidates with certification in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
- Integrated Science
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physical Science
- Earth/Space Science
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver effective science instruction aligned with Michigan academic standards
- Create a safe, engaging, and respectful classroom environment
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools
- Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Participate in school improvement initiatives and professional development opportunities
- Maintain appropriate classroom management and student discipline practices
- Serve as a positive role model for students
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Commitment to student achievement and continuous improvement
- Coaching experience or willingness to assist with extracurricular activities is preferred, but not required
Compensation & Benefits
Salary and benefits will be based on education, experience, and the negotiated master agreement.
