Position Overview

Alba Public School is seeking a motivated and student-centered Secondary Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engaging and rigorous science instruction to middle and/or high school students while fostering a positive learning environment that supports academic growth, curiosity, and critical thinking.

Preferred Certification Areas

Candidates with certification in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Integrated Science
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physical Science
  • Earth/Space Science

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver effective science instruction aligned with Michigan academic standards
  • Create a safe, engaging, and respectful classroom environment
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools
  • Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Participate in school improvement initiatives and professional development opportunities
  • Maintain appropriate classroom management and student discipline practices
  • Serve as a positive role model for students

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to student achievement and continuous improvement
  • Coaching experience or willingness to assist with extracurricular activities is preferred, but not required

Compensation & Benefits

Salary and benefits will be based on education, experience, and the negotiated master agreement.
