The School District of Brown Deer is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging teacher to apply for our High School Science Teacher position. Our ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work with students in a diverse setting, have a passion for teaching science, and have the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Brown Deer High School has amazing students and a dedicated staff who are committed to the growth and development of our students as learners and as human beings.

Specific skills needed:

Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

Knowledge of content standards--NGSS

Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills

Duties and responsibilities:

Create effective and engaging lessons to teach core content and build skills

Use assessment to drive instruction and provide effective and timely feedback on learning

Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage science learning experiences

Provide instruction, support, and supervision to high school students

Use place-based, project-based, and inquiry-based methodologies in instruction.

Establish a culture of safety and respect of the tools and equipment used in lab experiments

Make use of instructional resources and technologies and proactively contribute to the development of the school and assigned classes to improve the educational quality of its students

Maintain contact and communication with parents of students and work with them in the development of each student

Participate in building leadership activities and be a team player

Model appropriate interpersonal and communication skills in interactions with students and co-workers

Participate in the curriculum development process and teacher training throughout employment
