Role Overview
As a Lab Technician, you will support laboratory and cleanroom testing activities to help ensure product quality, contamination control, and regulatory compliance. This is an entry-level role where you will carry out routine environmental monitoring, microbiological and chemical testing, and assist with quality system activities in a controlled laboratory environment.
You will be expected to follow cleanroom behaviours, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and quality standards at all times to support manufacturing and quality control operations.
What You'll Be Doing
Cleanroom and Environmental Monitoring
  • Follow and maintain qualification in ISO 7 and ISO 8 cleanroom gowning procedures to ensure contamination control standards are met.
  • Perform routine Environmental Monitoring (EM), including viable and non-viable sampling in classified cleanroom areas.
  • Monitor cleanroom conditions and report any deviations from expected standards.
Laboratory Testing
You will carry out microbiological and chemical testing, including:
  • Bioburden
  • Bacterial Endotoxin (LAL)
  • Total Organic Carbon (TOC)
  • Conductivity
You will also:
  • Perform particulate matter testing in accordance with USP <788>requirements.
  • Assist with sample preparation, handling, and documentation.
Microbiology Activities
  • Support the incubation, enumeration, and recording of microbiological results.
  • Perform growth promotion testing and sterility verification of media.
  • Record and report data accurately in line with laboratory procedures.
Quality and Compliance
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions at all times.
  • Support investigations into deviations, non-conformances, and Out-of-Specification (OOS) results.
  • Assist with the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation to support audits and inspections.
Data and Reporting
  • Assist with trending environmental and laboratory data.
  • Support the preparation of routine reports, including monthly and quarterly summaries.
  • Escalate any abnormal trends or results to senior staff.
Continuous Improvement and Teamwork
  • Participate in daily team meetings (e.G., SQDIP) and contribute to problem-solving activities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Manufacturing, and Facilities.
  • Support updates to work instructions and laboratory documentation when required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and aseptic practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work in a regulated environment.
Desirable
  • Exposure to ISO 7 and ISO 8 cleanroom environments.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental monitoring or microbiological testing.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), quality systems, or regulated industries.
Working Conditions
  • You will work in controlled laboratory and cleanroom environments.
  • You will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and cleanroom gowning.
  • The role may involve standing for extended periods and handling laboratory equipment.
