Scientist - II (Associate)

JSG is seeking a Scientist - II (Associate) for our client in Rahway NJ
In this role, you will leverage your hands-on experience with core molecular biology techniques such as DNA cloning, PCR, DNA sequencing, mutagenesis, and gel electrophoresis to facilitate gene library construction and protein engineering initiatives. Your ability to independently plan and execute complex workflows, coupled with meticulous documentation and organizational skills, will ensure the success of multiple concurrent projects. Collaboration and clear communication are essential as you work closely with multidisciplinary teams to push scientific boundaries.

Pay $53.45/hour

Required Skills:

• Proven hands-on experience with DNA cloning, purification, PCR, primer design, mutagenesis, DNA sequencing and analysis.
• Ability to independently manage molecular cloning workflows with limited supervision.
• Experience with DNA sequencing technologies (including Sanger sequencing) and data analysis.
• Strong organizational skills with a focus on accurate record-keeping and experimental documentation.
• Effective communication skills and aptitude for teamwork.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Ability to troubleshoot experimental issues, investigate root causes, and communicate findings.
• Familiarity with molecular biology software such as Geneious, Benchling, or similar tools.
• Experience with high-throughput screening, automated liquid handling, and sample prep platforms.
• Programming skills (e.g., Python) to support data analysis and automation.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• A master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of applicable experience.
• Early-career PhD candidates are also encouraged to apply, especially if they demonstrate strong industry-relevant skills.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to manage daily lab activities independently.
• Experience with lab stock management, reagent preparation, and basic project documentation.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment.
