Job Overview

Sigma Inc is seeking a highly skilled Scientist II with expertise in tissue processing, histology, and staining techniques to support cutting-edge research initiatives. This is an onsite role based in Ridgefield, CT, offering an opportunity to work in a collaborative laboratory environment focused on high-quality sample preparation and analysis.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute tissue processing workflows to generate high-quality samples for analysis
  • Perform tissue embedding using paraffin and frozen section techniques
  • Conduct advanced tissue staining, including:
    • Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
    • Immunofluorescence (IF)
    • Histological staining methods
  • Troubleshoot and optimize laboratory protocols for consistent, reproducible results
  • Collaborate with researchers on experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, results, and lab inventory
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality control standards

Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    • PhD or Master’s in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related field
    • Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience:
    • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in tissue processing, embedding, and staining
    • Experience in research or clinical laboratory environments

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in histological techniques (paraffin embedding, cryosectioning)
  • Hands-on experience with IHC, IF, and histology staining methods
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize tissue preparation protocols
  • Familiarity with laboratory documentation and compliance standards
