Scientist Kalamazoo, MI 3+ Month Contract Pay: 36/hr, W 2 Hiring manager is looking to hire a PhD student for summer work. Length of contract is only approved for 16 weeks. 100% onsite in Kalamazoo, MI Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform in an organized and timely manner • Perform Cell Culture of Primary Cells and complete various Cell-Based Assays independently • Perform high-throughput sample testing in an organized and timely manner • Maintain excellent aseptic technique and ensure sterility/quality of cell culture and assay outcomes • Work safely within BSL-2 laboratory environment • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks, prepare precise technical report summaries, any necessary analysis, and maintain appropriate documentation • Basic Laboratory management, multitasking, and experimental troubleshooting Minimum Background and Experience: • Educational background: PhD Student in a scientific discipline with emphasis in molecular and cell biology, immunology, or related disciplines. • Training and experience with Cell Culture (Primary Cells isolation, Mammalian Cell Culture, flow cytometry, RNAi, etc) is a must-have • Working knowledge of and/or skills in the cell biology field (pipetting, aseptic technique, preparing media, cell-based assay work, etc.) • Excellent attention to detail • Comfort working within a fast-paced lab environment • Ability to perform basic dilution and stoichiometric calculations • Ability to work independently with ambiguity and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude • Attention to detail and good oral and written communication skills required
