Description
Payrate: $36.00- $37.50/hr.
Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Scientist to support Discovery Biomarkers research programs focused on Cardiometabolic Disease and Obesity & Related conditions. This onsite role is ideal for an independent experimentalist who enjoys developing, executing, troubleshooting, and interpreting biomarker assays that inform scientific and programming decisions. The successful candidate will generate high-quality biomarker data from mouse, non-human primate, and human biological samples, collaborate closely with cross-functional research teams, and communicate findings that support project strategy and decision-making. This position requires full-time laboratory presence during standard business hours.
Responsibilities
Independently execute biomarker assays, including ELISA, MSD, flow cytometry, qPCR, ligand-binding assays, and other immunoassay platforms as appropriate.
Process and analyze mouse, non-human primate, and human biological samples in accordance with standard operating procedures and laboratory safety expectations.
Develop, optimize, validate, and troubleshoot biomarker assays to improve robustness, reproducibility, and fit-for-purpose performance.
Prepare reagents, standards, controls, and samples while ensuring accurate assay setup, execution, and documentation.
Generate high-quality datasets suitable for internal scientific decision-making, project updates, and cross-functional discussions.
Perform preliminary data analysis, quality review, calculations, and data visualization using GraphPad Prism, Excel, or similar tools.
Interpret assay results in collaboration with scientific partners and contribute meaningful scientific observations and recommendations.
Present experimental findings, assay performance updates, and troubleshooting outcomes to research teams.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic laboratory notebook records, including protocols, raw data, calculations, deviations, observations, and conclusions.
Provide biomarker assay support across multiple discovery-stage research programs.
Collaborate with Discovery Biomarkers, Precision Medicine, and other cross-functional teams to align assay activities with project priorities.
Manage multiple experiments and timelines simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail, data integrity, and scientific rigor.
Support assay development activities and contribute to assay optimization and validation efforts.
Evaluate assay performance and reliability and generate data that supports research program decisions.
Education Requirements
PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline; or
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related scientific discipline with 5+ years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience.
Experience Requirements
Demonstrated experience in assay development, assay execution, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting within translational or discovery research environments.
Experience handling and processing in vivo and ex vivo biological samples, including mouse, non-human primate, and/or human specimens.
Proven ability to independently analyze, document, interpret, and communicate scientific data and experimental outcomes.
Experience contributing to project discussions, data reviews, and scientific decision-making processes.
Ability to understand the scientific purpose of assays and the impact of assay results on research objectives rather than solely executing predefined protocols.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with immunoassay platforms, particularly ELISA and MSD.
Experience conducting assay development, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
Proficiency in generating, reviewing, and analyzing biomarker assay data.
Experience processing and analyzing human biological samples.
Comfort working with animal blood and tissue samples, including mouse and non-human primate specimens.
Strong working knowledge of biomarker technologies such as ELISA, MSD, AlphaLISA, Luminex, ligand-binding assays, and related immunoassay platforms.
Experience with common molecular and cellular biology techniques, including western blotting, qPCR, RNA/DNA isolation, and cell culture.
Proficiency with GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Excel, or comparable scientific data analysis and visualization tools.
Familiarity with SOP-driven laboratory workflows and good documentation practices.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and experiments.
Effective written and verbal scientific communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience in cardiometabolic disease, metabolic disease, obesity, or related therapeutic research areas.
Experience contributing scientific insights to project team discussions and biomarker strategy conversations.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate assay performance, reliability, and data quality to support research decisions.
