Job Requirements

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Sleep Services Clinical Manager and Medical Director a Scoring Technologist analyzes data from polysomnography (PSG) tests to identify sleep stages (REM/NREM) and clinical events like apneas, hypopneas, and limb movements using specialized software. The Scorer will analyze therapeutic decision making, troubleshooting, and outcomes to recommend long term therapeutic goals. Scorers will provide feedback and support for skill development of clinical staff. Scorers, adhere to American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines to create comprehensive reports for physician diagnosis frequently working remotely or in labs.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • ·Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology

OR

  • Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency for all competencies required of a sleep technologist.

Experience

  • Five (5) years clinical experience (In lieu of clinical experience preferred certifications will be considered)

License/Registration/Certifications

  • Holds the BRPT's Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential and/or AARC's Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Review and overscore data from all Polysomnography testing
  • Identify respiratory events (apneas, hypopneas), cardiac irregularities, and limb movements.
  • Generate accurate, detailed technical reports for interpreting physicians, summarizing sleep quality and abnormalities, and identify most effective therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide technical feedback for night technologist; identify gaps in knowledge skill or ability through data analysis
  • Identify competency for developing clinical skill set of technical staff in therapeutic application and on-the-fly preliminary scoring
  • Assist department Educator in developing competencies around diagnostic data analysis
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain consistent, accurate, and high-quality scoring in compliance with AASM guidelines.
  • Utilize sleep diagnostic software effectively.
  • Participate in AASM accreditation standards and re-accreditation processes.
  • Create and edit preliminary interpretation report for Board Certified Sleep Specialist
  • Follow HIPAA policies to maintain the privacy and security of patient information.
  • Is a role model for our standards of behavior
