Role Summary

As a Screw Machine Operator 1 at MacLean-Fogg, you will be responsible for the basic setup, operation, and monitoring of assigned mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. This entry-level role plays a key part in maintaining production flow, ensuring product quality, and supporting operational efficiency on the shop floor.

Position Type: Full-Time/Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Pay Range: $20.09 per hour.

Work Location: Onsite – Mundelein, IL 60060

Shift: 4:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned screw machines and related equipment safely and efficiently

  • Inspect manufactured parts to ensure they meet quality and dimensional standards

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and make routine equipment adjustments as needed

  • Read and interpret simple blueprints and production documents, when applicable

  • Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify part specifications

  • Conduct basic machine setups under supervision or per instructions

  • Accurately complete production and quality documentation

  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and production goals

Qualifications Required

  • Education: None

  • Experience:

    • Able to perform tasks with direct supervision or clear instructions

    • Address routine issues and escalate more complex problems to senior staff for resolution.

Competencies/Skills

  • Basic machine operation and mechanical aptitude

  • Use of precision measuring instruments

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Interpretation of basic work orders and production documentation

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Basic math skills for measurement and part verification

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds repeatedly

  • Required to stand for extended periods

  • Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds

  • Frequent bending and stooping required

  • Must have the dexterity to handle small objects

  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
