This Medical Scribe role is an excellent opportunity for individuals planning to pursue advanced education in healthcare, such as medical school, physician assistant school, physical therapy school, nursing, or related programs.

The position is ideally suited for candidates in a gap year (or two) following undergraduate education or those currently completing a healthcare‑related degree and seeking meaningful hands‑on clinical exposure. Working alongside orthopedic clinicians, scribes gain real‑time insight into clinical decision‑making, musculoskeletal conditions, and patient care workflows.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

• Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record, including:

• Chief complaint

• History of present illness (HPI)

• Review of systems

• Past medical history, medications, and allergies

• Record detailed musculoskeletal physical exam findings, including pertinent positives, negatives, and abnormalities

• Document clinician assessments and treatment plans with a level of detail appropriate to case complexity

• Ensure timely, thorough, and compliant clinical documentation while supporting provider efficiency

• Maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality in a fast‑paced clinical environment

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is not entry‑level clerical work - it is intended for individuals who are serious about pursuing a future in healthcare.

Strongly preferred candidates will have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in a healthcare‑related or science‑based major (e.g., biology, kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences)
• Prior healthcare or clinical exposure (e.g., medical scribing, CNA, EMT, MA, athletic training, physical therapy aide, research, shadowing)
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing advanced clinical education (MD/DO, PA, PT, NP, etc.)
• Comfort working in a clinical setting with clinicians and patients

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Proficient knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and common clinical conditions
• Excellent computer proficiency and typing skills (60+ WPM preferred)
• Ability to quickly synthesize and accurately document complex medical information
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced environment

Compensation Range for this position:

$14.23 - $21.35

Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
