Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technician to join our Operating Room team. The Surgical Technician will assist surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies while ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical procedures, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced OR setting. This position requires flexibility to float between departments and local facilities within a 20-mile radius as needed.
Schedule & Work Environment:
  • Flexible to float between departments and nearby locations within 20 miles.
  • Fast-paced Operating Room (OR) environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the operating room with necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies before surgical procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
  • Perform surgical scrub duties and provide direct assistance to surgeons during operations.
  • Perform and maintain accurate counts of instruments, needles, and surgical sponges before, during, and after procedures.
  • Prepare patient skin for surgical intervention and assist with positioning and repositioning during surgery.
  • Monitor the patient and provide supportive care during the pre-operative and intraoperative phases.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and respond effectively to changes during procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and transport of surgical specimens.
  • Maintain knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, anatomy, physiology, and medications used during procedures.
  • Follow all hospital, departmental, federal, and state safety standards, including aseptic and infection prevention protocols.
  • Maintain current knowledge of advancements in surgical technology through continuing education, seminars, and workshops.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program OR Certified Surgical Technician credential (NBSTSA or NCCT) with ten (10) years of applicable experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent experience in a large Operating Room setting.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), American Health and Safety, or approved equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and operating room procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and high-volume surgical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery –Certified (TS-C) through NCCT.
  • Experience in Orthopedic, ENT, and/or Vascular surgical procedures.
  • Experience working with Epic EMR (preferred but not required).
