    Description

    Overview:

    The Scrub Technician is essential during the patient visit and during surgery. The Scrub Technician is responsible for maintain a safe surgical intervention for the patient by practicing proper aseptic technique an duseing working knowledge of the procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The position will also assist in clinic during patient consultation visits, post-operative checks, injectable appointment, etc.

    Responsibilities:
    • Surgical Functions:
      • Assist in room preparation for the surgical day
        • Prepare supplies required for all surgical cases
        • Sterilize equipment
        • Clean Operating Room
        • Checks work orders for equipment
        • Opening of sterile packs, instruments and supplies, assuring a sterile environment is maintained
      • Maintains a safe environment for surgical patient 
      • Check stock inventory after each surgical day
      • Any other duty as requested
    • Clinic Functions:
      • Rooms patients at appointment times
      • Obtain and document patient history, medication list, and chief complaint
      • Obtain and document vital signs
      • Perform pre-operative and post-operative photography as appropriate for patient medical record
      • Provides patient education, after physician creates and finalizes treatment plan. Ensure patient understanding of treatment plan, medication use, and patient compliance
      • Responsible for all pre-op and post-op photography
      • Correspondence with patients as appropriate via phone, email, and in-person communication
      • Performs duties as delegated by a physician, including suture removal and dressing changes
      • Assist during clinic surgical procedures
      • Complete pathology and/or laboratory requisition documents as required
      • Any other duty as requested 
    Qualifications:

    Education

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • BLS certification required 
    • Post High School education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, MA, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Surgical Technician is strongly preferred

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
    • Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
    • Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
    • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
    • Must possess organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team

     

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to communicate in an active multi-office environment.
    • Ability to efficiently operate all job related office equipment (telephone, computer, calculator, fax, copier).
    • Ability to communicate via telephone.
    • Ability to sit for large portions of a workday.
