Scrub Technician - Shiprock, NM

Job Title: Scrub Technician No of Positions or candidates required: 4 Specialty: Surgical/Operating Room Scrub Technician (OR + Endoscopy Room support) Place of Work (City/State): Shiprock, NM Site: Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC) Location: Northern Navajo Medical Center, US Hwy 491 North, Shiprock, NM 87420 Duration: 1 year contract with the possibility of a 4 optional years Shift Schedule:

• 8 10 hour shifts, Regular hours: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM, Monday Friday
• On-call: weekends, holidays, nights/evenings after regular hours - approx. 4 on-call shifts/month, rotated among staff
• Call-back: outside regular schedule as needed (after hours, weekends, holidays)

Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks Certifications:

• Current BLS (American Heart Association)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Experience needed: Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience Special Skills needed:

• Sterile field prep/maintenance, instrument/supply setup for surgical cases
• Surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments), specimen handling/labeling
• Support for correct-site/side/procedure verification and surgical time-outs
• Endoscopy room scrub support (prep, instrument handling, room turnover)
• Basic computer/IT skills
• English language proficiency (read/write/speak) and cultural awareness/sensitivity toward American Indian and Alaska Native populations
• Case mix exposure: endoscopy, dental, general surgery, OB/GYN, minor oral/facial, podiatry (occasional orthopedic; no urology, neurosurgery, or total joint replacement cases)

Responsibilities:

• Function as sterile team member for scheduled/add-on OR and Endoscopy cases
• Prepare, set up, and maintain sterile field; select/arrange instruments, supplies, equipment
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention/control standards throughout procedures
• Anticipate surgical team needs - pass instruments, sutures, supplies
• Perform surgical counts and assist with specimen handling/labeling
• Support room turnover for endoscopy procedures
• Flexible rotation to other departments as needed (e.g., patient sitter, transport support) within scope of practice
• Complete mandatory competency standards (HIPAA, EMTALA, age-specific competencies, restraints, etc.) and facility orientation/training
• Maintain accurate timesheets (SCN-verified weekly)
• Wear contractor ID badge; comply with Federal Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
