Job Duties:
Serves as a scrub person for basic surgical procedures and participates in complex surgical procedures.
Follows departments procedure for scrub persons by assembling surgical packs, supplies and instruments for surgical cases.
Assures an adequate number of appropriate supplies and instrumentation are available in accordance with surgeon’s preference and counts all instruments, needles and sponges.
Assists with monitoring and reporting blood and fluids loss during cases.
Adjusts priorities and participates in resolving problems as appropriate.
Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions utilized during surgical procedures.
Gathers, checks and opens supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure.
Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
Review the patient’s chart, identify patient, verify surgery to be performed with consent forms, and bring the patient to the assigned operation rooms.

Education & Requirements:
Associate degree in Surgical Technology from accredited school or two years of experience in a directly related area.
Valid state Surgical Technologist license.
Current Basic Life Support certificate required.
Ability to interact comfortably with a high volume of patients, families, and staff in a stressful environment.
