Scrum Master 2

As a Scrum Master 2, you will play a key role in supporting an agile team using Scrum methodologies, advocating for its principles and practices across the team and product to improve product delivery and team effectiveness.

You will guide the team in utilizing the Scrum framework, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, assisting or leading the removal of impediments, and promoting collaboration across teams and products to optimize delivery outcomes.

As a servant leader, you will coach the team to self-organize and continuously improve, with a strong focus on building a healthy, engaged, and high-performing team. You will help create the conditions for sustainable delivery through effective planning, dependency coordination, and transparent sprint/release reporting. You will remove impediments, manage risks, and align stakeholders on priorities and trade-offs to drive continuous improvement and deliver value in 2-week Sprint cycles.

What You Will Do

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (planning, daily standups, reviews) and lead engaging, outcome-driven retrospectives that result in actionable improvements.
  • Actively fosters team morale and engagement by creating a psychologically safe environment where all team members feel heard, respected, and empowered to contribute.
  • Promote adherence to Scrum principles and team working agreements, regularly inspecting team processes and guiding the team in running meaningful experiments to improve performance and collaboration.
  • Support sprint execution and delivery outcomes through clear sprint goals, release planning support, milestone tracking, and transparent communication of progress and risks.
  • Coach the team to strengthen self-management, ownership, and accountability, enabling them to solve problems collaboratively rather than relying on external direction.
  • Use delivery metrics (e.g., throughput, cycle time, predictability, burn trends) to facilitate data-informed conversations, helping the team inspect and adapt their ways of working.
  • Identify and remove impediments; manage risks and escalate systemic issues when needed (without individual attribution), while minimizing disruption to team focus and morale.
  • Partner closely with the team, the Product Owner, management, and stakeholders to coordinate dependencies, align priorities, and support effective decision-making.
  • Communicate status, outcomes, and trade-offs clearly; help manage stakeholder expectations while protecting the team’s capacity and focus.
  • Recognize and reinforce positive team behaviors, celebrating wins and progress to strengthen team cohesion and motivation.

What You Will Need

  • Experience serving as a Scrum Master or Agile delivery lead for software or technology teams.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with demonstrated ability to coach team dynamics, build trust, and navigate conflict constructively.
  • Proven ability to improve team engagement and morale in addition to improving delivery outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of backlog refinement, sprint/release planning, dependency management, and delivery reporting.
  • Comfort operating in regulated or governance-driven environments; able to support audit/compliance artifacts.
  • Familiarity with Jira (boards, dashboards, reporting) and Confluence (team documentation); comfortable facilitating in tools like Microsoft Teams.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices to support flow and release readiness conversations.
  • Working knowledge of project management practices, including milestone tracking, risk/issue management, and cross-team coordination in a complex delivery environment.
  • Preferred: CSM, PSM I/II, SAFe SSM, and/or ITIL Foundation (or equivalent).
