Scrum Master / Release Manager (CDP) – Core Deposits Platform
Birmingham, AL- Charlotte, NC- Atlanta, Georgia (hybrid- onsite 3 days per week)
12-month contract
Pay Rate: $50.00 - $54.00per hr.

Our client is looking for a Scrum Master / Release Manager resource to support the Core Deposits Platform (CDP) within the Digital organization. They're looking for someone who can step in and contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up or oversight. These roles sit within a complex, governed enterprise environment and are responsible for end-to-end Agile delivery execution and release management across two areas:

  • Core / Theta (Core Banking / Data Layer)
  • BDS (Business Domain Services / API Layer)

This is a hands-on, delivery-first role where success is defined by execution, speed, coordination, and ownership—not ceremonial Agile adherence.

Primary Responsibilities
Agile Delivery & Execution

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (standups, planning, retros, reviews)
  • Drive sprint execution and consistency in a fast-paced, non-textbook Agile environment
  • Remove blockers and manage cross-team dependencies

Release Management (Ownership Role)

  • Own end-to-end release lifecycle (Dev → QA → UAT → Prod)
  • Manage change requests, approvals, and governance gates
  • Ensure release readiness (ticket hygiene, documentation, validation)
  • Coordinate across teams and Transformation Office
  • This role owns, not just coordinates, releases

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering, QA, business stakeholders, and external testers
  • Build relationships across dependent teams
  • Influence without direct authority

Stakeholder Communication

  • Communicate with technical teams up to VP-level leadership
  • Clearly articulate risks, blockers, and delivery status
  • Represent delivery across technical and business audiences

Jira Ownership

  • Manage boards, workflows, and reporting in Jira
  • Maintain ticket quality, traceability, and release alignment

Technical Awareness

  • Understand environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod) and release pipelines
  • Exposure to tools like Dynatrace and Splunk
  • Familiarity with APIs, performance metrics, and enterprise systems

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years in Scrum Master / Agile delivery roles
  • Proven hands-on release management ownership (required)
  • End-to-end ownership of release lifecycle (Dev → QA → UAT → Prod), including change requests, approvals/governance gates, and ensuring full release readiness (documentation, ticket hygiene, validation)
  • Hands-on Scrum Master experience with the ability to drive sprint execution, run Agile ceremonies pragmatically, remove blockers, and manage dependencies in fast-paced, imperfect Agile environments
  • Experience working across engineering, QA, and business stakeholders with the ability to influence without authority in a matrixed organization
  • Strong communication skills across all levels (developers through VP leadership), including clearly articulating risks, blockers, and release readiness while leading calls independently
  • Deep hands-on experience with Jira including managing boards/workflows, maintaining ticket hygiene (fix versions, labels), and driving reporting and delivery visibility
  • Proven experience in complex, governed enterprise environments with high system dependencies (not small, low-scale teams)
  • Self-directed with strong ownership mentality; able to act quickly under pressure, solve problems in real time, and operate without handholding
  • Solid understanding of SDLC environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod) and basic knowledge of release pipelines and deployment flow (not a coding role)
