As the Agile Team leader, the Scrum Master role is goal oriented, task driven, and committed to product development. The Scrum Master will oversee all aspects of the team's agile process, while leading all agile related meetings and goals. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to internally lead an agile team servicing various levels of state government. The qualified candidate will have at least five years of real-world experience as a Scrum Master, familiarity with Web applications and internet technologies, with strong communication and writing skills being a must. A strong work ethic, great attitude and dedication to success are expected. Responsibilities

  • Guide the Scrum team on how to use Agile practices and values to be productive and effective
  • Coach the Scrum team to be self-organized
  • Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel in Product, Development, QA, and Leadership
  • Focus on the working methods, tools, and team performance to communicate team health
  • Build a trusting, safe, and judgment-free environment that enables collaboration, problem-solving, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Facilitate Sprint Planning, Grooming, Ceremonies, and Retrospective discussions
  • Facilitate getting work done without dictating the work
  • Coordinate effectively across local and remote team members
  • Support and educate the Product Owner on grooming and maintaining a product backlog
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency and sharing of information
  • Bring new ideas and approaches to the team, specifically related to Agile best practices
  • Clearly communicate ideas between Product, Development, QA, and Leadership
  • Embrace learning, be excited by challenges and maintain a growth mindset to gain expertise and grow in the Scrum Master position

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement
  • Experience working on a technology team required, preferably within software development/engineering
  • Prefer a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Project Manager role, CSM or CSPO certificate a plus
  • Awareness and knowledge of new practices and coaching techniques; active in the Agile Community
  • Experience in applying a wide variety of patterns, reports, and techniques to assess sprint and team health
  • Experience working in a scaled agile, environment a plus
  • State and Local Government domain experience a plus
  • Strong mentoring skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associated methodologies are helpful
  • Strong planning and organizational skills involving the ability to manage multiple work tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills involving communicating information in writing and verbally; including an occasional presentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team across functional groups
  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of Jira and Confluence
