Scrum Master / Space Communications Program

Responsibilities:

Peraton is seeking a Scrum Master to join our team at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, supporting our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract. This is a remote position for a candidate within commutable distance to the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD; the candidate may commute periodically to GSFC and travel to other NASA locations as needed. 

 

The Scrum Master will lead Agile ceremonies, support the setup and maturation of Agile processes, and guide teams transitioning from traditional Waterfall methodologies to Agile frameworks. This role requires strong communication skills, hands‑on experience with multiple version control tools, and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional engineering teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish, implement, and refine Agile practices across the team and program
• Lead Agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming)
• Coach teams transitioning from Waterfall to Agile, ensuring smooth adoption of new workflows
• Partner with product owners and stakeholders to maintain well‑prioritized backlogs
• Identify and remove impediments to ensure consistent team progress
• Track and report progress using industry-standard Agile metrics
• Collaborate with engineering teams using diverse software languages and toolchains
• Promote continuous improvement and team collaboration

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field and 10 years of experience; Master's degree and 7 years of experience.
• Security clearance - this position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance thereafter. You must be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
• Demonstrated experience setting up Agile frameworks and leading transitions from Waterfall
• Professional experience as a Scrum Master or Agile facilitator
• Experience with version control systems: Git, GitHub, Subversion
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills

 

Desired:

• Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, SAFe, etc.)
• Experience supporting government or defense programs
• Experience working with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams
• Proficiency or familiarity with multiple software languages including FORTRAN, ADA, C/C++, and Python

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
