SE - Student Tutor, Nursing

Summary --------

This position will provide academic coaching and remediation to undergraduate nursing students. Tutor should be a graduate student or an upper-level undergraduate nursing student, who has demonstrated high academic performance in their completed course work. Focus of assignments will be on foundational nursing courses and hands-on skill.

Essential Functions -------------------

• Assist students in reaching a better understanding of their Nursing coursework by introducing themselves to class and explaining when and where coaching will be offered;
• Communicate effectively and professionally in order to clarify content presented in the lecture and laboratory environments;
• Lead review sessions and be willing to work with individuals as well as in a group setting;
• Adhere to a set schedule of available hours which will be posted throughout the department.

Teaching Support -----------------

• Provide teaching support to instructors by:
• Conferring and planning with professors;
• Becoming enrolled as a user on the Canvas course website;
• Obtaining copies of necessary texts, notes, and syllabi for reference material.

Communication and Documentation --------------------------------

• Maintain frequent communication and proper documentation of academic services by utilizing the Barry email service to stay in contact with students;
• Retain copies of correspondence from students;
• Maintain and submit sign-in sheets and log of study sessions;
• Notify supervisor in advance of absences and arrange for coverage.

Additional Duties -------------------

May be asked to perform additional, related duties incidental to the work described herein as determined by the instructor.

Qualifications/Requirements ---------------------------

• Must be a Barry University student.
• A graduate student or an upper-level undergraduate nursing student is preferred.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 10
