Position Description
Position Overview:
The Operations - ADA team, is seeking a passionate advocate for individuals with accessibility needs with a commitment to ensuring compliance with the Department of Justice settlement agreement and ADA standards. The individual will work collaboratively within a team to support the ADA Manager and Senior ADA Associates in development and implementation of strategic goals for addressing the accessibility needs of Harris County voters. The ideal candidate has strong work ethic, is attentive to detail, is a self-starter, and is passionate and proactive about increasing accessibility to voters in Harris County. Under the overall direction of the ADA Manager, the ADA Associate is responsible for the following ADA and accessibility duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct physical accessibility surveys of polling locations in Harris County using appropriate tools.
Advise election judges on how to implement temporary remedies appropriately based on the approved checklists.
Create diagrams and sketches of polling locations and voting rooms.
Evaluate polling locations for ADA issues and documents them by photographing and labeling appropriately.
Consult with Senior ADA Compliance Associate for quality control of checklists and verifications of temporary remedies.
Conduct site visits to polling places and evaluate for compliance.
Attend all recommended and required trainings, including surveyor training.
Assist in real time with ADA concerns during the election period.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Temp Full-time | Position End Date: 11/6/2026 - This is a temporary position being onboarded through a Harris County-contracted agency.
Monday - Friday | 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
Overtime hours as required to include extended hours and weekends during election periods.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
A majority of this job will be conducted in the field at locations being inspected.
You will be exposed to outdoor temperatures for a majority of the day.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Entry Level: A person with this level of skills has the ability to open, create, save and modify documents in Word, send and receive email in Outlook and create spreadsheets in Excel. Format documents for printing, comfortable using the printer menu to preview documents. Has ability to change the font, the margins, insert or delete pages and use the built-in spellchecker and grammar check.
