Position OverviewThe busser is expected to warmly welcome guests upon their arrival, assist manager/host/ess in seating guest; to ensure place, delivery and serve all food and beverage orders within time standards; to ensure quality of ingredients, preparation, presentation and correct temperatureof food served to guest.Serve guests, bread, water and butter upon their arrival, and provide refills as needed. Remove used tableware between courses; clear and reset tables after guests leave. May be required to function as a food runner and/or buffet runner as requested by manager or supervisorQualifications and Physical/Mental RequirementsThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain anddemonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.* Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language (level to be customized per position).* The ability to follow payroll and key sign out procedures.* The ability to offer any assistance possible to guests.* The ability to respond properly to any hotel emergency or safety situation.* The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.* Comply with TIHTC work rules and standards per the associate handbook and as directed by management.* Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and management* Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.* Have working knowledge of the predominant language(s) of our guests.* Be able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.* Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).* Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing 20 - 25 pounds.Specific Position Requirements* Previous restaurant experience required.Position Responsibilities* Reports to work on time, in proper uniform (according to standards) and complies with company policy regarding absenteeism and tardiness* Attends all colleague meetings and reads the bulletin board daily for important notices and information, checks schedule daily* Obtain service area assignment at the beginning of each shift.* Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring bread, butter and water to table.* Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course.* Clear tables after guests. Take tableware to dish room and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing.* Between seating promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths. Check the floor and clean as required. Reset and arrange tabletop.* Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to server as needed.* Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service.* Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.* Thank guests as they are leaving* Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.* Adheres to and observes all local and state health department laws and regulations regarding safe handling and serving of food.* Duties may include functioning as a food runner and/or buffet runner as required or requested by manager or supervisor.License/CertificateFood Handlers & BassetBENEFITS: At Trump International Hotel and Tower Chicago, we offer a range of employment benefits for this Non-Full Time position, subject to any applicable eligibility, enrollment and/or benefit plan requirements.
