Corn Sorter (Seasonal) – 1st & 2nd Shift

Pay:$16.00/hour (1st Shift) | $17.00/hour (2nd Shift)
Schedule: 6 days per week, 40+ hours with overtime available
Duration: Seasonal (August - October)
Location: Plymouth, IN 

Job Description

We are hiring Seasonal Corn Sorters to join our production team. Employees will inspect corn moving along conveyor belts and remove defective ears while ensuring only quality product continues through the sorting process. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and standing or sitting for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• 
  Inspect corn on the cob as it moves along the conveyor belt.
  
• 
  Separate high-quality corn from defective product.
  
• 
  Remove moldy ears, off-type ears, and ears with husks.
  
• 
  Place ears with husks onto the designated return conveyor.
  
• 
  Maintain quality standards throughout the sorting process.
  
• 
  Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  
• 
  Keep work area clean and organized.
  

Work Environment

• 
  Corn moves continuously across sorting tables for visual inspection.
  
• 
  Typically 1–2 employees work at each sorting table.
  
• 
  Employees may sit on provided stools or stand while working.
  
• 
  Must be able to climb stairs multiple times throughout the workday.
  
• 
  This position requires watching a moving conveyor belt for extended periods. Candidates who experience motion sickness may find this position challenging.
  
• 
  Exposure to corn and corn pollen is expected.
  

Schedule

1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM

• 
  6 days a week, 1 rest day
  
• 
  40+ hours per week with overtime opportunities
  

Pay

• 
  1st Shift: $16.00/hour
  
• 
  2nd Shift: $17.00/hour
  

Requirements

• 
  Drug screen and background check must be completed before starting.
  
• 
  No resume or interview required.
  
• 
  Strong attention to detail.
  
• 
  Ability to perform repetitive visual inspection tasks.
  
• 
  Ability to climb stairs throughout the day.
  
• 
  Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  

Dress Code & PPE

Employees must wear:

• 
  Long work pants
  
• 
  Shirt that covers the torso and shoulders
  
• 
  Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes (work boots are not required unless assigned additional cleaning duties)
  

The following PPE is provided:

• 
  Safety glasses
  
• 
  Light-duty gloves
  

For safety reasons:

• 
  No loose clothing, drawstrings, or dangling jewelry.
  
• 
  Long hair must be tied back or secured under a hat.
