Seasonal Dock Hand – Thompson Boat Center (2026 Season)Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintaining a safe environment at the boating area, following appropriate procedures and guidelines.
Assist with docking of boats and safely help customers on and off rental equipment.
Keep a lookout on the water
Rinsing / washing rental equipment
Boathouse maintenance such as cleaning, weeding, removing trash, organizing, and ordering supplies.
Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms, locker rooms, and gym
Provide excellent customer service to guests, while directing customer issues to supervisor or unit manager.
Provide First Aid & CPR to guests if needed
Issue receipts, refunds, credit, or change due to customers accurately.
Maintain awareness of safety issues and report them immediately to your manager.
Assist with securing company property, boats, and equipment at opening and closing.
Any other duties or requested by your Supervisor or Manager.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
Partial high school education ; High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and coworkers.
Ability to recognize problems and communicate them promptly to management.
Must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal flotation device (PFD) while on duty.
CPR/First Aid Certification (training available upon hire).
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and move for extended periods throughout the workday.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
Ability to lift and carry: up to 25 lbs regularly, 30-35 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally
Ability to extend arms above shoulder height
Ability to climb steps regularly
Frequently working in wet, slippery, hot, humid, and outdoor conditions.
Frequent hand immersion in water.
Ability to withstand temperature extremes and inclement weather.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English clearly for safety and customer service purposes.
Physical presence on-site is essential to perform job duties.
