Our Seasonal Dockhands assist customers with fuel and rental boats. This position performs a critical role in creating the best experience for customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the dock, marina facilities, tools, equipment and provide a safe environment for customers
- Check out and check in rental boats to customers. Guide customers to their rental boats and provide safety and general information in a friendly and courteous manner (see “How to Treat Our Customers and Co-Workers” for detailed steps)
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and assist customers with rental form agreements
- Monitor dock area, distribute life jackets, and ensure proper usage, clean interior, and exterior of boats
- Help with undocking and securing boats to docks. Fuel and refuel boats if required and inspect if all safety supplies are present on the boats.
- Check dock lines and utility supplies as necessary during changing weather conditions
- Facilitate cleanliness of the marina, pump-out, and waste disposal
- Ensure adherence to departmental and / or operations policies, procedures, and practices
- Perform such duties as assigned by the TopSider Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
- Be hospitable, enthusiastic, and people-friendly
- No prior experience is needed, but a prior job in a service setting is a plus!
- Can work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work on a team and be able to work well with co-workers
- Commercial awareness and an eye for detail in all aspects of work
- Ability to work well under all conditions, especially handle extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to swim and be comfortable working around water
- Ability to clearly communicate and relate well with customers
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work comfortably around water
- Ability to work in tight spaces
- Ability to work at heights of up to 10 feet
- Stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, crawl, bend, kneel, squat, twist, reach, grasp
