GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Tired of the same boring view from your office window? Looking to make an income and gain valuable skills while working in some of the prettiest locations in the state? The few who have the privilege of working at the State Park's Central Construction Office have the best job in the state of Wyoming! If you are college-aged or older and have an interest in learning the trades, this may be the perfect position for you. We are fortunate enough to work all summer long at any number of our 39 beautiful State Parks or Historic Sites. The Central Construction Office is now looking for individuals who have the desire to travel the state and be part of our dynamic team, working hard to build and preserve our parks! The typical employment season is from mid-May through mid-September. However, the successful candidates may begin work earlier and/or extend longer into the fall. The actual length of employment depends on the work schedule and the weather.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Assist with the construction/renovation of State Parks and Historic Sites facilities across the state of Wyoming

  • Safely operate vehicles and machinery

  • Safely operate power and hand tools, including saws, drills, presses, chainsaws, etc.

  • Follow proper safety procedures/guidelines

  • Follow the instructions given by the senior staff

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference may be given to applicants with at least one year of professional work experience in basic construction and building.

Must be 18 or older.

Must maintain a valid drivers license.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of safely operating a wide variety of power and hand tools.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough in completing assignments/tasks.
  • Willingness to work on a variety of assignments each day.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work.
  • Skill in basic construction and building.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Extensive travel throughout the State is required
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodation
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, and climb ladders

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • These are temporary, seasonal positions, 40 hours per week, 10 hours per day, typically Monday through Thursday.

  • Must be 18 or older and maintain a valid drivers license.

  • Housing is not provided.
