GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

If so, join Wyoming State Parks for a summer of adventure and teamwork in the beautiful Hot Springs State Park! Hot Springs State Park is located in Thermopolis, WY, and is home to unique geothermal features, abundant wildlife, and world-class fishing. The park is currently seeking enthusiastic seasonal staff to fill positions in maintenance and visitor services.

The employment season is from mid-May to mid-September. The positions may begin earlier in the year and/or extend longer into the fall. The actual length of employment depends on the work location and the type of job performed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

Seasonal Bath House (Visitor Services) and Maintenance:

  • Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, and mowing.
  • Assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation of grounds and buildings, and in preventive maintenance.
  • Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, and remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and other public areas.
  • Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles, including light and heavy equipment.
  • Operate various maintenance equipment, including mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other tools required for daily operations. Utilize various hand and power tools.
  • Follow proper handling and safety procedures for cleaning chemicals and fuel products encountered in daily operations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Provide excellent customer service. May interact with the visiting public, answering basic questions.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

For all seasonal positions, preference will be given to applicants who are professional while providing excellent customer service.

Must have a valid drivers license.

Must be at least 16 years of age.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with visitors worldwide.
  • Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day.
  • Experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work.
  • Basic construction and maintenance knowledge.
  • Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, including hand and power tools.
  • Basic safety awareness of equipment use.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds with or without assistance

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • Weekend and evening work will be required.
