Position Overview

Pay Rate:

• $36.00 per game (Non-MOA)
• $42.00 per game (MOA)
• 10 officiating positions available

Salary is dependent on MOA status.

Position Overview:

As a City of Billings Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Sports Official, you will be responsible for creating a safe, fair, and positive game experience for all participants. Officials will officiate youth and/or adult games and are expected to demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and strong knowledge of game rules. Games are primarily scheduled on Saturday mornings and afternoons, with possible Sunday afternoons as needed, during September and October.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Officiate games according to established rules
• Ensure a safe and positive playing environment
• Interact professionally with players, parents, coaches, and spectators
• Make decisive and impartial calls
• Serve as a positive role model for participants of all ages
• Provide excellent care and customer service to the public

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

• Must be at least 16 years of age to officiate youth games
• Must be at least 18 years of age to officiate adult games
• Knowledgeable of game rules and mechanics
• Prior officiating or playing experience preferred
• Enjoy working with children and adults
• Professional, confident, approachable, and reliable
• Able to handle conflict calmly and effectively
• Willingness to learn and receive feedback

Additional Requirements:

• Pass a background check
• Reliable transportation to and from games and trainings
