Brookside Gardens is seeking an energetic and reliable part-time Seasonal Gardener Assistant in Wheaton, MD to support daily gardening and landscape maintenance tasks throughout the growing season. The ideal candidate is energetic, enjoys spending time outdoors, interacting with people, and has an outstanding work ethic with great attention to detail. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of plants and experience using a variety of equipment for tasks like planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching. On the job training will be provided as necessary. This position will run from March 2026 – November 2026 with a working schedule of up to 32 hours per week.
About the HFEE and Brookside Gardens
The Horticulture, Forestry, and Environmental Education (HFEE) Division preserves and maintains our parks' natural and cultural resources. Brookside Gardens is one of our public gardens, showcasing horticultural exhibits designed and maintained using ecological landscape practices. Our public gardens offer a wide variety of educational programs for children and adults are planned to excite curiosity and encourage lifelong learning, with the vision of mobilizing residents of Montgomery County as dedicated stewards of the natural world.
