Westwood Department of Public Works

Several openings available for summer employment with Westwood’s Department of Public Works! This is a great opportunity to assist a busy Westwood Public Works Team with maintaining and safeguarding the Town’s infrastructure. This is a 40-hour per week seasonal position, however, qualified candidates with part-time availability will be considered. The position requires a work commitment from mid-May through approximately the end of August.

Representative Duties Include:

• Assisting with construction and maintenance projects, such as: Repairing and patching street and sidewalks; rebuilding catch basins; cutting grass, weed whacking, raking leaves, trimming brush and trees; and collecting refuse along highways.
• Operating light dump trucks and pickup trucks; hauling gravel, dirt, sand and other materials; loading/unloading materials.
• Operating jackhammer, small roller, roadside mower.

Qualifications and Experience: High School education or equivalent preferred. Ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions. Massachusetts motor vehicle license required.

Schedule requirements: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. from mid-May through late August.

Salary and Benefits: This is a seasonal, non-benefit position with a starting hourly rate of $17.60.
