Job Announcement

The City of Burnsville is seeking to fill the position of Seasonal Fleet Maintenance Worker. Under the supervision of the Fleet Department Superintendent and Crew Leader, the Seasonal Fleet Maintenance Worker performs skilled and general labor in the maintenance and repair of City vehicles and the maintenance facility. Responsibilities include cleaning and organizing vehicles and repair bays, sealing floors, assisting mechanics as needed, running parts, and shoveling or blowing snow around the facility.

Position Details

Essential Duties:

  • Operate City vehicles, trucks with trailers, and small motorized equipment used in Fleet operations.
  • Assist with the maintenance, repair, cleaning, and general upkeep of City vehicles, equipment, and the Fleet maintenance facility.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment to complete assigned vehicle, equipment, and facility maintenance tasks.
  • Perform parts, materials, and facility support duties, including stocking parts, organizing storage areas, cleaning work areas, and maintaining an orderly Fleet facility.
  • Follow established safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures while performing physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, shoveling, and moving heavy or awkward objects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for this position include possession of a valid Driver's License and being at least 18 years of age by the first date of employment. Local government experience is preferred.
