Your Opportunity
The Herff Jones Production team is looking for a Seasonal Prepress Technician to join our Indianapolis facility. This is a full-time seasonal role supporting peak production with the opportunity to convert to full-time employment based on performance, attendance, and business needs.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Hours may extend to 10-12 hour shifts and occasional weekends during peak season (November-May).
How You Will Make an Impact
Support the printing and production of announcements, diplomas, and fine paper products used to celebrate student achievements. Prepare, update, and optimize output files for offset and digital printing. Ensure template consistency and manufacturing accuracy across product lines. Maintain quality standards and reduce rework through detailed file review and corrections. Keep production flowing by identifying and resolving prepress issues quickly.
What You Will Bring to the Table
High School Diploma or GED required Past experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro) Ability to update print-ready files and manage data merges Understanding of vector separations and layered design files Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to interpret job tickets and manufacturing specifications Basic math proficiency (fractions, decimals, measurements, percentages) Comfortable using Excel, Outlook, Oracle, and related systems Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced production environment Strong communication and teamwork skills
What Youll Be Doing Daily
Process prepress tickets according to standard operating procedures. Prepare and modify files for digital and offset printing. Proof files and troubleshoot quality or formatting issues. Monitor template integrity and consistency. Participate in root-cause analysis for production errors. Communicate with internal teams to ensure accurate job completion. Maintain accurate production and workflow records. Assist other departments as needed to support production goals.
Physical Activities
Daily activity includes but is not limited to: Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting. Prolonged computer use and sitting. Reading, communication, and simple math. Use of step ladder as needed. Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs. Moderate noise work environment.
