POSITION OVERVIEW

The Seasonal Producer, Story Forum is charged with producing and executing Story Forum: Exploring Art and Innovation, a two-day in-person event taking place during the 2027 Sundance Film Festival. This role is responsible for end-to-end event production, talent management, and technical execution for the program.

Working closely under the direction of Director, Sundance Collab, this position supports Sundance Institutes belief that independent stories and perspectives are essential to a thriving, informed, and connected society. The Seasonal Producer upholds this commitment by providing safe, nurturing spaces where artists can share new work, explore creative technology, and build community.

This temporary position works full time (40 hours per week) from Wednesday, September 30, 2026 through Wednesday, February 10, 2027. This position may be based within a commutable distance to Boulder, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Los Angeles, CA, or New York, NY, until the department comes together in Boulder, CO in January to support the in-person elements of the Festival. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends will be required at key points to meet deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned.

Top priorities include but are not limited to

  • Producing and executing all in-person events outlined in the Story Forum program plan for the 2027 Festival.

  • Working across the organization to align logistics, operations, and event delivery standards.

  • Reviewing pre-conceptualized session formats and providing operational feedback regarding run-of-show timing, technical feasibility, and logistical flow across the 2-day schedule.

  • Serving as the sole point of contact for all talent, managing ongoing communication, speaker briefs, and complete travel and lodging arrangements.

  • Acting as the sole point of contact for booking talent and coordinating all talent-related travel and lodging.

  • Overseeing advance tech checks, coordinating AV/equipment requirements with production teams, and aligning with internal operations to establish venue and ticketing readiness.

  • Directing onsite operations across the 2-day Story Forum, overseeing stage timing, cue management, live presenter flow, and real-time problem-solving for all sessions.

  • Managing speaker arrival, green room hospitality, stage orientation, and immediate pre-session mic and tech checks.

  • Compiling event performance data, reconciling budget items, and producing the comprehensive Final Wrap Report post-Festival.

You have the following direct or transferable qualifications and skills:

  • Experience producing in-person events within a fast-moving festival or live presentation environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of film and creative technology.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of working effectively with talent.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across departments and external teams.

  • Strong organizational skills and financial oversight capabilities for wrap reporting.

  • Residence in or proximity to the Denver/Boulder area is preferred.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

You will be successful in this role if you...

  • Seamlessly deliver the 2-day Story Forum event in alignment with the program plan.

  • Manage all talent booking, travel, lodging, and tech checks with clear communication and high attention to detail.

  • Submit a thorough final wrap report containing complete financial reconciliation and key performance outcomes.
