Role Overview:

This position will be responsible for assisting with the development and production of plans, specifications, and engineering estimates for various road and/or bridge projects.

Location:

This position is with INDOTs Fort Wayne Sub-District.

Pay Rate:

This position pays an hourly rate of $16.24.

A Day in the Life:

  • Assists in the development of detailed bridge and/or road, traffic, and maintenance plans for a variety of transportation projects prepared for the Fort Wayne District office; assist design engineers and project managers in conducting studies to assess feasibility and soundness of proposed project designs and to recommend changes based on findings regarding roadway and structure improvement type projects
  • Candidate may participate in the development of preliminary and detailed bridge and roadway plans and standard detail drawings using CADD; drawings may include drainage, traffic maintenance/traffic control, general roadway, structures, rights-of-way, and signals, etc.
  • Assists in calculating, summarizing, and reviewing plan quantities, including pavement, earthwork and seeding quantities, etc.
  • Assists in the collection and analyses of field data as necessary
  • Assists with the project management, accounting, utility coordination, and right-of-way functions related to project development
  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned

What Youll Need for Success:

Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a Civil Engineering, CADD or closely related program

  • Considerable knowledge in use of computers and various application software such as CADD, MS Office, and various data base programs.
  • Ability to understand and interpret a variety of Civil Engineering principles
  • Cooperative with coworkers
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
