ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Seasonal operations include: Asphalt repair (path and pothole) Crack Sealing Bridge Painting Roadside maintenance (mowing, trimming, trash pick-up, washout repair) Assist Streets Maintenance Technicians with day-to-day operations Learn and operate various tools such as leaf blowers, chainsaws, mowers, string trimmers, construction hand tools like shovels, rakes, lutes, and tampers Performs other duties assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older License and/or Certifications: Must possess a valid Drivers License KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to convey information in written, verbal, and electronic form Ability to follow written and oral directions Mechanical aptitude; baseline knowledge of mechanical knowledge used; ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled and some skilled tasks in relation to street operations and maintenance PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Moderate to heavy physical work to include lifting 75lbs or less, carrying 75lbs or less, and pushing and/or pulling 50lbs or less Ability to physically access all work sites to perform duties, potentially in any weather and environmental conditions Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works primarily outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals EQUIPMENT USED: * This position may require the occasional use of personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment This posting is subject to close at any point in time once a qualified pool of applicants has been obtained.
