Wegner CPAs is hiring for a temporary Individual Tax Preparer to join our CPA firm during tax season for approximately two months. The individual will be responsible for preparing individual federal and state income tax returns and assisting the tax team with related tax preparation and administrative responsibilities.The ideal candidate will have prior individual tax preparation experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare individual federal and state income tax returns accurately and efficiently.Input and review client tax information, including Forms W-2, 1099, K-1, brokerage statements, mortgage interest, charitable contributions, and other supporting documents.Prepare tax returnsReview completed returns for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.Identify missing information or potential tax issues and communicate questions to the appropriate tax professional.Assist with electronic filing and processing of completed tax returns.Follow firm procedures for documentation, workpaper preparation, and client confidentiality.Meet established production goals and tax-season deadlines.Communicate professionally with managers, partners, and other members of the tax department.Maintain a high level of communication with tax signers.Assist with other tax preparation duties as assigned.QualificationsRequiredPrior experience preparing individual income tax returns in a public accounting, tax preparation, or similar environment.Working knowledge of federal individual income tax concepts and forms.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a tax team.Ability to manage multiple tax returns and meet firm deadlines.Commitment to maintaining strict client confidentiality.PreferredPrevious experience using CCH Axcess Tax.Experience preparing individual returns for clients with more complex tax situations, including Schedule C, Schedule E, Schedule D, and K-1 income.Prior experience working in a CPA firm.Familiarity with Wisconsin and/or other state individual income tax returns.CPA, EA, accounting, finance, or tax-related educational background is a plus but not required.Position DetailsPosition: Temporary Individual Tax Preparer Duration: Approximately 2 months during tax season Schedule: Full-time preferred; part-time may be consideredIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is an experienced individual tax preparer who can step into a CPA firm's tax department and contribute immediately with minimal training.
