    Job Description

    The Second-Class mechanic conduct a proper work area exam, complete each day''s jobs with the highest regard for safety, preventative maintenance, fabrication of plant equipment, and general plant maintenance.

    • High School Diploma Required.
    • High level of commitment to safety and quality.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work from elevated platforms.
    • Ability to use hand tools (e.g., shovels, hammers, wrenches).
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and most plant breakdowns.
    • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical systems.
    • Ability to weld, cut metal, and fabricate parts.
    • Valid New Jersey driver''s license required.
    • Must pass a mechanical basic skills test.
    • Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) knowledge preferred.
    • Forklift experience preferred.
    • Basic computer skills preferred.
    • Warehouse experience preferred.
    • Assist First Class Repairman with maintenance and repair activities.
    • Perform mechanical repairs with minimal supervision.
    • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and operator feedback to diagnose equipment issues.
    • Observe and test machinery using voltmeters and other testing equipment to identify malfunctions.
    • Disassemble machinery and equipment to repair or replace defective components.
    • Examine parts for wear, damage, or breakage.
    • Clean, lubricate, adjust, and maintain machinery and equipment.
    • Operate repaired equipment to verify repairs and ensure proper functionality.
    • Assist plant operations and other maintenance personnel as needed.
    • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to progress through the Maintenance classification program up to Repairman First Class.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
    • Assist First Class Repairman with maintenance and repair activities.
