Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Second Shift Supervisor to lead shop-floor operations for a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Broken Arrow. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for directing production employees, maintaining safety and quality standards, meeting production schedules, and driving accountability across the second shift.
The ideal candidate has previous manufacturing or fabrication leadership experience and is comfortable supervising Welders, Fabricators, Painters, and General Labor employees. This role requires a strong floor presence, the ability to analyze production performance, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment
Experience managing production schedules and daily shop-floor operations
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies
Ability to analyze production metrics and make data-driven decisions
Experience working with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams
Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Ability to coach employees and hold teams accountable for performance
Ability to work extended hours, Fridays, and Saturdays as production demands require
Production & Operations Responsibilities
Oversee daily second-shift manufacturing and shop-floor activities
Ensure production schedules and daily output requirements are achieved
Assign work and adjust priorities based on production needs
Monitor workflow and allocate labor effectively throughout the shift
Track key production metrics including output, scrap, rework, and labor utilization
Validate scrap reporting and production data for accuracy
Support equipment reliability and inventory accuracy
Identify production bottlenecks and coordinate solutions
Collaborate with Maintenance to minimize equipment downtime
Work with Engineering and Quality to resolve production and process issues
Maintain effective shift-to-shift communication and operational continuity
Communicate production status, outstanding issues, and priorities to appropriate leadership
Safety Leadership
Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture throughout the facility
Lead daily pre-shift safety meetings
Clearly communicate safety expectations to employees
Complete 30+ safety observations each month
Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and ensure appropriate corrective action
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and environmental requirements
Reinforce proper PPE and safe equipment operating procedures
Maintain compliance with applicable workplace safety regulations
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise Welders, Fabricators, Painters, and General Labor employees
Provide clear daily direction and performance expectations
Train, coach, and cross-train employees to improve workforce flexibility
Develop employees and identify opportunities for additional training
Provide timely performance feedback
Address attendance, productivity, quality, and workplace performance concerns
Manage corrective action processes when necessary
Support employee recruitment and onboarding activities
Help integrate new employees successfully into production operations
Promote accountability, teamwork, engagement, and professional development
Continuous Improvement
Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
Identify opportunities to improve productivity and operational efficiency
Lead and participate in root-cause analysis of production problems
Support process improvement and operational enhancement projects
Reduce scrap, rework, downtime, and inefficient labor utilization
Work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions
Monitor improvements to ensure changes are sustained
Encourage employees to participate in continuous improvement efforts

Preferred Qualifications
Previous Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, or Manufacturing Supervisor experience
Welding or metal fabrication industry experience
Experience supervising skilled trades and production employees
Lean Manufacturing experience
5S implementation experience
Root-cause analysis and corrective action experience
Experience tracking manufacturing KPIs and production data
Employee coaching and performance-management experience
Experience supporting hiring, onboarding, and workforce development
Work Environment
Fast-paced industrial manufacturing and fabrication environment
Hands-on leadership role requiring a consistent presence on the production floor
Regular interaction with Welders, Fabricators, Painters, General Labor employees, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and management
Second-shift operation with overtime required based on production demands
Leadership position requiring quick decision-making, problem-solving, and frequent adjustment of production priorities
