Production Supervisor/Quality Monitor – 2nd Shift

Job Summary:

Responsible for the supervision of the 2nd shift (4:00 – 2:00 a.m.) production operations. Oversees all 2nd shift manufacturing requirements as they pertain to on time, efficient, and quality products for our customers. Investigates production problems, takes corrective action, and coordinates work with other Company functions.

Assures adherence to MPI’s ISO-9001 quality assurance program. Responsible for product approval at different phases of production process to assure compliance with established individual customer specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Directly supervises the production activities in electron beam coating/curing of a variety of continuous “web” roll paper and film materials produced for numerous industrial applications, plus the slitting and sheeting operation.

2. Reviews shop orders and work requests to determine equipment specifications, sequence of operations and workflow. Anticipates production problems and analyzes availability and capability of manpower, equipment and material.

3. Is actively involved in problem solving.

4. Prepares, maintains, and provides required input to computerized data system or other required records, reports, project hour analyses, production performance, material used from inventory, in-process production status, and other related information.

5. Monitors time cards to verify charges against hours recorded.

6. Investigates job performance problems, takes appropriate action documenting disciplinary problems, and assures compliance to the Union Agreement.

7. Maintains adherence to safety/good housekeeping rules and regulations.

8. Responsible for QA testing as it pertains to immediate production approvals.

9. Participates in and supports MPI’s ISO 9001 quality assurance program and maintains up-to-date knowledge of the program’s applicable established directives and procedures.

10. Oversees the coordination of Shipping/Receiving needs regarding scheduling, organization and coordination. 1

11. May be responsible for other duties as assigned by the management.

Education/Experience/Skills Required:

Education: Associates degree preferred. Recognized equivalent considered.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the converting industry. Some experience in web handling processes related to paper or film coatings preferred.

Skills: Ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge and usage of personal computer.

Training Required:

Will be required to become familiar with all coating operations, equipment and methods and all QA standard and special test procedures, apparatus, and equipment.

Supervision:

Receives: Reports to management.

Provides: Supervision to hourly production personnel.
