DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a full-time English Teacher at the secondary level for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature, writing, and communication, and will inspire students to think critically, express themselves effectively, and develop a lifelong appreciation for reading and learning. They will be committed to differentiating instruction, integrating technology, and creating a classroom environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and respect.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate in English, BA Endorsement
- Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards for English
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in reading and writing across genres
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
- Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills
- Competency in student management and supervision
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with Michigan Academic Standards for English Language Arts.
- Incorporate reading, writing, speaking, listening, and media literacy into lessons.
- Design engaging units and assessments that challenge students and promote higher-order thinking.
- Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and other evaluation methods.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
