Position Overview

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in Industrial Arts courses, fostering student creativity, technical skills, and real-world problem-solving. Courses may include (but are not limited to) woodworking, construction, manufacturing, and industrial arts.

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate

  • Must possess (or be eligible for) one of the following endorsements:

  • IX (Industrial Arts Education), or

  • TE (Technology Education)

  • Ability to maintain a safe and organized shop/classroom environment

  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills

  • Willingness to collaborate with staff and contribute to a positive school culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching secondary Industrial Arts or CTE courses
  • Knowledge of safety standards and equipment maintenance
  • Interest in expanding Career and Technical Education opportunities for students
  • Ability to integrate academic standards with hands-on learning

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction
  • Maintain a safe and compliant shop environment (OSHA/MDE guidelines as applicable)
  • Assess student progress and communicate effectively with students and parents
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student success
  • Participate in school improvement efforts and district initiatives
