Position Goal: The secondary instructional coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the coach is to build teacher capacity and understanding of high leverage instructional practices specifically in Tier 1 math and science, and data analysis to lead multi-tiered systems of support, including oversight of high quality tier 3 intervention programming. An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. Instructional coaches promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. This is not a supervisory position and does not include evaluation of colleagues. The instructional coach works in collaboration with principals and other district administrators by facilitating improvements in instruction and assessment and promoting practices that lead to improved student learning outcomes.
Qualifications: Certification by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in grades 7-12; strong academic background in mathematics & science; and such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and competitive benefit package.
