Job Description Summary:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Provides professional opinion and judgment and effectively communicates this to Medical Staff, team MD, coaches, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Staff, and other hospital personnel concerning patient/athlete evaluations and treatments. • Provides clinical assistance to the Physical Therapy Department in the treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. • Schedules outpatients in the appropriate setting and maintains and updates appropriate department and patient records according to department guidelines if not assigned to work in that clinic. • Some ATCs will be scheduled for clinic time and others have some marketing duties. • Identifies shortages and needed replacements. • Requests supplies and repairs and assigns tasks as necessary. • Monitors and cares for the equipment issued to them, ie AED, splints, table, etc. • Participates in a visitation program for local high school athletic programs. • This visitation program involves free consulting services to schools in relation to prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. • Game coverage is also expected as outlined in the contract with that specific school. • Provides coverage for a fitness center in various Industries as well as participates in wellness initiatives and provides treatment for injuries after evaluation following OSHA standards. • Performs department related paperwork accurately and turns in a timely manner ie Sports Aware, Community Benefit form, Mileage reports, stipends, etc. • Participates in OSHA certification requirements for working in various industries in our community.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• Bachelors degree in Athletic Training from a college or university with an Athletic Training Education Program that has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) Ability to perform treatments and procedures, demonstrate procedures, instruct and supervise students and technicians. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, schedules, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures as acquired through two to three months of orientation.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
• Current certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association. Current State of Tennessee License as an Athletic Trainer by the State Board of Athletic Trainers.
