Summary: As a secondary Science teacher in the Florence Unified School District, you will have the unique opportunity to nurture students' science growth across a range of levels and topics. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in empowering our students to explore the wonders of science and prepare for a future filled with endless possibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive science lessons that align with state and district standards for each course, while promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and a love for science.
  • Design and implement various assessment strategies to evaluate student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, sharing insights into students' progress and achievements in the course.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay informed about education trends, teaching strategies, and curriculum enhancements in the content area.
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment and adhere to safety guidelines and best practices.

Equipment: Use standard office equipment such as a personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, telephone. Use of Microscopes, beakers, test tubes, Bunsen burners and balances, alongside protective gear such as goggles and lab coats

Travel Requirements: Limited travel to and from meetings may be required.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field; teaching certification is required. Master's Degree (MA) preferred.
  • Proven experience in teaching high school Science, with a deep understanding of Science concepts, and critical analysis.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Valid Arizona Teaching certificate

Clearances

  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination
  • Valid I-9 form
  • AZ Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment

  • Salary commensurate with education and experience for this position
  • 188 day new teacher contract - per work calendar for this position
  • 186 returning teacher contract - per the work calendar for this position

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the site administration in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
