Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Science Teacher to join our team at Tawas Area High School. The ideal candidate will foster a stimulating learning environment that encourages student engagement and curiosity in the sciences. This full-time position requires a commitment to academic excellence and the ability to inspire students to explore and understand the complexities of the natural world.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
Teach a range of science subjects, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.
Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and presentations, and provide constructive feedback.
Create a classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Utilize technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding academic performance and behavioral issues.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science.
Supervise and mentor students in extracurricular science-related activities, such as clubs or competitions.
Uphold school policies and procedures while maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Valid teaching certification in Secondary Science for the state of Michigan.
Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to convey them effectively to students.
Experience in teaching at the secondary level is preferred, with a demonstrated ability to engage students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student success.
