Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support services to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The position requires collaboration with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while promoting student growth and independence.

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Must possess (or be eligible for) a Special Education endorsement (e.g., LD, CI, EI, or similar)
  • Knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, and Michigan compliance requirements
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at the secondary level (7-12)
  • Familiarity with transition planning and post-secondary outcomes
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and PBIS frameworks
  • Experience with data collection, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide direct and/or co-taught instruction in alignment with student needs
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and accommodations
  • Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate documentation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate regularly with families
  • Support transition planning for post-secondary success (education, employment, independent living)
