Secondary Special Education Teacher

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Provide direct IEP services to student with disabilities at the middle school or high school level across disability categories (cross categorical)

Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and assessment

Write IEP in its entirety using a data driven approach to goals and service delivery

Lead and attend all IEP meetings as directed by caseload, inviting team members

Complete organizational tasks that include IEP completion, parent contacts, uploading forms, respond to feedback and corrections, and organize special education files.

Work with a variety of technology including special education and regular education platforms of Infinite Campus, grades, attendance, behavior referrals, google classroom.

Coordinate services with related service personnel and community agencies

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all special education services for students on the caseload including paraprofessional assignments within the grade level

Communicate with the parents/guardians, special education and regular education staff on a regular basis

Administer, score and interpret academic achievement tests under the direction of the school psychologist

Behavioral knowledge to write plans and implement positive behavior supports plans and behavioral response plans

Research and develop curriculum in line with student IEP services to make goal progress across a variety of subjects integrating Ojibwe culture concepts and activities.

Ability to teach a variety of courses

Demonstrate flexibility with the daily schedule

Support students in general education classes and assist staff with accommodations as needed, work collaboratively with a variety of staff

Complete quarterly progress reports

Assist in transition planning and activities for caseload students who are 14+ years old with the transition coordinator

Participate in school activities as assigned- field trips, assemblies, pow wows, student programs, graduation ceremonies.
