    Overview
    The Secondary History Teacher (6-12) will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective history instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. This position partners with students, families, and instructional leaders to deliver standards-aligned instruction, foster historical thinking skills, and support student achievement through high-quality virtual learning experiences.

    Essential Duties

    • Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual history lessons aligned with state social studies standards for grades 6-12.
    • Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, instructional resources, and educational technology to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
    • Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including research projects, discussions, writing assignments, and collaborative learning experiences.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to promote student understanding and historical thinking skills.
    • Facilitate small-group instruction and provide individualized academic support as needed.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
    • Implement the organization's history curriculum and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
    • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and inform instructional decisions.
    • Analyze student performance data to identify learning gaps and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
    • Collaborate with curriculum specialists and fellow educators to strengthen curriculum implementation and student outcomes.
    • Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
    • Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on instructional best practices.
    • Work collaboratively with counselors, special education staff, and other student support personnel to meet student needs.
    • Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
    • You will play a key role in our collective success by proactively pivoting to support emerging business needs and strategic priorities directed by your manager.

    Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

    • Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
    • Experience teaching a variety of secondary history courses, including World History, U.S. History, Civics, and Geography.
    • Demonstrated experience utilizing virtual learning platforms and educational technology.
    • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
    • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
    • Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.

    Education & Certification Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in History, History Education, Social Studies Education, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
    • Valid Missouri teaching license with a Secondary Social Studies (6-12) certification or equivalent required.
    • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid Tennessee teaching license with the appropriate Secondary Social Studies endorsement as required to support the organization's multi-state instructional programs.
